My sister gave me a black waist belt for xmas, it%26#039;s stretchy on the back but with a leather buckle bit. It%26#039;s really nice but the problem is I have no clue how to wear it! I don%26#039;t tend to wear dresses very much, so can I wear a waist belt with trousers?!?
I was thinking perhaps with dark denim jeans? But i%26#039;ve only seen people wearing the belts over long Tshirts with jeans, but it%26#039;s too cold for just a Tshirt at the moment, so can you wear them over a jumper? or do you put the jumper over the belt?
Also someone said to match your trousers to the belt but does it have to be an exact match? Would dark denim do? And also what colour top should I wear? Does that then have to match my shoes?!
Sorry to be such a dunce but I am not at ALL fashionable and i generally get these things spectacularly wrong! Any advice is very welcome! (Or links to pictures for that matter!)
For style tips purposes I%26#039;m mid twenties, UK size 12 and 5ft 8in.
Thanks very much!!!
How do I wear a waist belt?
You could wear it over a lightweight t-shirt with a fine gauge long line cardi over the top, the layers should provide enough warmth.
A jumper dress would also work with this belt, as would a fitted shirt and jeans. The denim should be dark and straight-leg (or skinny if you prefer) as a stonewash or lighter demin will look odd with the colour of the belt.
You could wear it over a jumper as long as the jumper is a fine knit, anything thicker will look too chunky with the belt.
Top doesn%26#039;t have to match your shoes, don%26#039;t worry about colour matching everything, just as long as you haven%26#039;t got wild clashed of shade and colour (so keep everything dark, mid or pale toned)! Unless you want to go for that look of course...
Reply:wear it round your hips over a jumper. it doesn%26#039;t have to match your shoes or boots.
Reply:DON%26#039;T wear it over something bulky like a jumper (this is best left to catwalk models!). if you%26#039;re skinny and have a small bust, wear it just under the bust on your ribs (especially with a tunic) If you%26#039;re more curvy, use it to cinch in your waist and give an hourglass shape. also use it over shift dresses to give more definition to your waist. you could wear it with something looser like a shirt. if it%26#039;s black it would look good with black jeans, dark denim jeans, browns, greys. nothing to bright.

Reply:The only way I think chunky waist belts look good are with dresses. Since you said you have a black belt Id go with a white dress.
Reply:wear it over a long sweater that goes a little past your mid thigh. Make sure your shirt is tight. Then wear some darkwash jeans with heels.
